Bonus Features: ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ explores transition from stage to screen

In a year filled with musicals, “Dear Evan Hansen” is the latest to make its way home on Blu-ray, DVD and digital. Starring Ben Platt in the role he originated on Broadway, the film brings the 2016 production to the screen.
The film hit theaters back in September to mixed results, with poor critic reception but fairly positive feedback from audiences. Now, as the film makes its home release, it comes with an extensive set of bonus features exploring its journey from stage to screen.
The biggest highlight of the film’s extras comes in the form of a “Making of” featurette that chronicles the production process and its adaptation to the screen. Director Stephen Chbosky breaks it all down, just like he did with Inside The Film Room’s Joel Winstead earlier this year.
Another featurette takes a look at the adjustments the cast took coming back to film amidst the coronavirus pandemic, and how they found ways to still feel connected.
Let’s take a look at everything the home release has to offer!
