Bonus Features: Best Picture-winner ‘Nomadland’ arrives on Blu-ray April 27

After bursting onto the scene in 2020, “Nomadland’s” momentum has continued to grow this year, as it dominates awards season. With Hollywood’s biggest night just days away, the critical darling is poised to take home a handful of Oscars – including Best Picture and Best Director.

Fans of Chloé Zhao’s film will be able to head home with a prize of their own, too, albeit two days after the Academy Awards when “Nomadland” officially arrives on Blu-ray. The film has been streaming on Hulu since February 19, and became available on digital April 13.

Starring Frances McDormand, the film follows Fern, a modern-day nomad struggling to make ends meet in the wake of the Great Recession. Fern sells her belongs and piles into a van, traveling the country, meeting fellow nomads and picking up odd jobs at every stop. While McDormand, a two-time Oscar-winner plays the lead role, she’s accompanied by real-life nomads on screen, as the cast and crew embedded themselves amongst these communities while filming.

While the Blu-ray release may not be packed with bonus features, it does included a handful of new extras that serve as an added perk for those picking up “Nomadland.” Let’s break it all down.

Special Features on Blu-ray Disc

  • The Forgotten America – This 13-minute featurette chronicles the journey of Jessica Bruder’s book from non-fiction hit to prestige film, featuring interviews with Bruder, Zhao, McDormand and the film’s producers.
