Ranking: Top 7 Movies of 2019 (so far)

We’re just over halfway through 2019, and it’s been… an interesting year, to say the least. So far I’ve seen 49 movies, and I would struggle making a Top 25 list at the moment. The slump started early with typical January duds like “Glass” and the infamous “Serenity,” but the overall quality of films hasn’t increased much.

Of course, there have been the mega-movies, too, with four major blockbusters crossing the $1 billion mark already, and at least two more potential hits on the horizon. As awards season kicks into high gear, the latter half of 2019 should pick up the slack –  hopefully.

With that being said, Jake and I were both extremely comfortable putting together our Top 7 lists, with these incredible films:

  1. Booksmart
  2. Avengers: Endgame
  3. Shazam!
  4. Long Shot
  5. “Midsommar”
  6. Us
  7. “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood”

  1. “Midsommar”
  2. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
  3. “Avengers: Endgame”
  4. “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood”
  5. “Booksmart”
  6. “Shazam!”
  7. “Under the Silver Lake”
